Initially, the material used was stiff, hot, and sticky. Hence, it has been a subject of concern for many homeowners while owning one. As of today, the manufacturers have made great improvements in the material composition, thus increasing the comfort level of this sofa. Its material is either plastic or rubber coated fabric. Some people prefer this faux type stating that it is devoid of the unique leather smell. Nevertheless, it depends on the personal preference and the budget limit, whether to purchase this sofa or not.
Origin of loveseats can be traced back to 17th and 18th century. They were first invented for women - to accommodate their huge and intricately-styled dresses. Over the years they became known as loveseats as two people can snuggle comfortably on them.
No matter what kind of damage your leather sofa has sustained, the first thing that needs to be done is to prepare the surface. The leather used for manufacturing the sofa has a protective coating on its surface in order to make it last longer. Preparation work mainly involves removal of this coat and cleaning the dirt and grime from the leather. For this purpose, use the cleaning solution which you get in the kit, to remove the dirt and coat. Otherwise, you can use fine sandpaper to clean the leather coat. Dip a cotton ball in alcohol and rub it on the sanded area with a gentle hand. The damaged edges of the leather often tend to get curled up in the outward direction. These edges have to be trimmed with a pair of scissors to get a smooth finish at the end.
Soap and Water: Moisturizing soaps or body wash (Dove) along with little water serves well in the overall cleaning method. By gently rubbing the diluted soap solution onto the couch using a soft cloth, one can take care of the grime adhering to it. After gently rubbing the soap, one should use a dry, clean cloth to wipe it dry. Do not use water to rinse off the soap, as too much water can damage the leather.
